Using Coconut Oil for Natural Beauty
Coconut oil has many benefits within the body. But did you know it has even more therapeutic uses as topical skin treatments? Here are some amazing ways to use coconut oil to keep you looking and feeling young and beautiful:
Face & Body Scrub
To make an all natural and exfoliating facial scrub, mix Himalayan salt with coconut oil and gently massage into your face each night. You can leave it on overnight or rinse it off. You can substitute sugar for the salt if you want a whole body scrub. Definitely rinse this one off in the shower.
Face & Body Moisturizer
Coconut oil can improve the health and appearance of your skin; keeping it moisturized, healthy and radiant. Apply a thin layer to your cleansed skin for a facial moisturizer, or right after a soothing shower for a whole body moisturizer. Or you can mix it into your hot bath water and soak for a relaxing and aromatic experience.
Damaged Skin Treatment
Coconut oil is not only moisturizing, but is deeply penetrating. To moisturize and heal dry, rough feet, form a foot scrub by mixing with Himalayan salt and rubbing feet well to exfoliate and soften. Use often until skin improves. You can massage coconut oil alone into rough elbows, or use the scrub again. Rub over hands or other effected skin to help fade age spots.
Sun Care
Coconut oil’s effectiveness as sun block is debatable, but its ability to moisturize sun kissed skin after an outing comes naturally. Mix with fresh aloe vera as well if you’ve gotten a bit too much sun and are red, itchy and/or peeling.
Just as with adding coconut oil to your diet, try to keep your topical coconut oil as natural as possible. Use virgin, cold-pressed/raw, minimally processed coconut oil for the best results. And keep in mind, anything that goes on your body absorbs through your skin and goes into your body. So keep your diet and skin therapy clean, healthy and natural.
